Junior Coding

Description: 

Pre- Requisite: NONE

 

Junior Coding is a "play to learn" course that incorporate games and apps to help students practice thinking like a coder. To keep students engaged and excited about coding, games are played with and without computers, as the main idea is often an approach to thinking and problem solving.

Junior Coding students are introduced to programming fundamentals in a variety of ways appropriate for this age group. From coding puzzles, board games and physical activities students progress to hands-on programming using online drag-and-drop tools, such as Scratch, Minecraft and Swift Playground to provide a "play to learn" environment. 

 

Recommended Program Duration:  Total 12 weeks / 1 Semester 

Recommended Grade Skill Level:  3rd - 5th grade

Programming Fundamentals

Gives students a strong foundation using coding basics, such as loops and conditionals, that they then build upon to begin  programming their own projects!
