CodeSLAM

@ Dallas Teen Tech Center

CodeSLAM is an “out of school time” program that introduces students to basic web development and explores game making software. It is an ideal program for parents and educators who want to offer their students a unique "out of school time" computer coding experience, delivered in a maker’s space. Currently, the pilot program is being hosted at the Dallas /Teen Tech Center. Every week a different focus/session is introduced, making this program a fresh and ever changing experience.

The maker’s space environment is fun and engaging, allowing coders to be independently creative, or collaborate in groups to deliver a project by the end of every CodeSLAM session.

Each session is 2 hours long. During the first hour of discovery, new coders receive a tour of the facility and returning coders will explore and interact with a variety of technology equipment then review the “coding challenge of the week”. The last hour is dedicated to making realizing, and then sharing, the completed project of the day.

EDUCATORS & PROGRAM DIRECTORS: The CodeSLAM program can be offered at your school's campus or, your school can partner with the nearest recreation center's technology lab to host CodeSLAM sessions for your students.
